An Email with the Subject "Washington Mutual Security : Profile Locked" was received in one of Scamdex's honeypot email accounts on Thu, 14 Sep 2006 19:33:39 -0700 and has been classified as a Generic Scam Email. The sender shows as "Washington Mutual"<account@wamu.com>.

The email address was probably spoofed. Do not reply to or contact any persons or organizations referenced in this email, or follow any URLs as you may expose yourself to scammers and, at the very least, you will be added to their email address lists for spam purposes.

 


Dear Washington Mutual customer,

We recently reviewed your account, and suspect that your Washington Mutual Card account may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party. Protecting the security of your account and of the Washington Mutual network is our primary concern. Therefore, as a preventative measure, we have temporarily limited access to sensitive account features.

To restore your card account access, please take the following steps to ensure that your account has not been compromised:

1. Validate your Washington Mutual Internet Banking account. In case you are not enrolled for Internet Banking, you will have to fill in all the required information, including your name and you account number.

2. Verify your Washington Mutual Card Information for any unauthorized withdrawals or deposits, and check you account profile to make sure not changes have been made.
