This scam starts with a classified ad showing a few photos of a baby, asking for urgent help from the mother who, without giving much detail, basically says she is in a bad situation and need someone to take her baby into care.

Apologies, the ad has been removed from the source site so I\'m not able to copy it here.

Upon inquiring with the ad poster, we received an email reply which is an obvious scam. The email address is suspicious, the scammer couldn\'t get the name of their own baby straight, and the wording is reminiscent of a Nigerian Prince scam.

The email also contained several photos of the baby supposedly up for adoption. I searched Google for similar images and found a Flickr account where the photos were apparently pulled from. The account belongs to a professional photographer who has several pages of photos of the same child from infancy to about 2 years old. It appears to be the photographer\'s daughter, so the photos were obviously stolen from that account and used for this scam.

We didn\'t email the sender back and don\'t plan to, as we don\'t want to get involved in a scam, but everything about this classified posting indicates it is a scam.

Since you’re here …
we have a small favour to ask. More people are visting Scamdex and Scamalot than ever but advertising revenues are falling fast and we have no 'product' to sell. And unlike many informational websites, we haven’t put up a paywall or membership barrier – we want to keep our site as open as we can. So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Scamdex/Scamalot websites takes a lot of time, money and hard work to keep running. We do this because we hate to see our fellow humans getting scammed out of their hard-earned money by low-lives.
